Jenny Longwell, Ph.D., BCBA
Dr. Jenny Longwell is a licensed psychologist and board certified behavior analyst who provides developmental assessment services and treatment consultations through the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center of New Orleans. Dr. Longwell earned her doctorate in school psychology from Louisiana State University, where she focused on the assessment and treatment of children with developmental and learning disabilities across environmental contexts. Dr. Longwell received additional training at at a clinic in Nebraska, where she used cognitive behavioral therapy with adolescents and provided consultation on parenting strategies to parents and the residential treatment team.
Locally, Dr. Longwell consulted on the development of the Tulane Center for Autism and Related Disorders and was an early member of their team, where she built on her previous experience conducting assessments of children with developmental delays and worked with other medical specialists to create multidisciplinary treatment plans. Most recently, Dr. Longwell led the Mercy Family Center and Cypress Academy to develop a school-based assessment and behavioral treatment program for students with Autism, providing access to high quality services in a familiar environment and minimizing travel and disruption for families.
In addition, Dr. Longwell is deeply invested in the local community. She served on the Louisiana Behavior Analyst Board from 2013 – 2018, holding leadership positions as Vice-Chair, Chair, and Complaints Coordinator and chaired the Autism Speaks Louisiana Walk for two consecutive years. Her current community involvement includes serving on the Executive Board for Easter Seals of Louisiana, on the board for New Orleans’ Beignet Fest, and on the medical team for Camp Tiger, a camp run by LSU Medical School for children with disabilities. She has a lively family life, including a husband and two boys, one who has Autism.
